Right on the gulf, which was beautiful. If I were a fisherman or a boater, this would be an amazing place. The downtown area reminded me of New Orleans. Got the picture with the southernmost point of the US monument, went to Margaritaville, and had dinner on the water.


I do have to say, that biking around the area was pretty good (gotta watch out for the cars – like any town packed with people) but good path marking.

I noticed on the way home, that there was a bike lane all the way through the keys. Some areas were a little dicey Big Pine Key had a short section that the bike lane was a bit narrow and through marathon there was a lot of shopping area, but still all very doable. That is over 100 miles of dedicated bike paths. Not bad.


One funny things – we saw iguanas crossing the street, like we see squirrels do up north. Just a weird thing to see...
